2015- Orthos Doxa, Opening Reception and Viewing

ORTHOS DOXA opening reception will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. today at the Museum of Biblical Art.

The name of this exhibition, Orthos Doxa, is taken from two Greek words meaning ‘true worship’ or ‘straight/correct glory or glorification’. The Orthodox Church traces its roots directly back to the Jesus and the Apostles. There are approximately 300 million Orthodox Christians in the world. Discover the rich traditions and beauty ceremonial art in the Eastern Orthodox tradition.

Created in cooperation with Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Dallas in celebration of their 100 year anniversary. Items on display include jeweled crosses, gold candelabra and liturgical candles, fine antique silk and embroidered vestments, the Easter Kouvouklion of hand crafted wood, precious holy icons and the Bishop’s thron
