Metropolis Oratorical Festival held March 17-19

Thirty young people, representing parishes from around the Denver Metropolis, met for worship, fellowship and competition at the Metropolis of Denver Oratorical Festival, hosted by the St. Demetrios parish in Fort Worth, over the March 17-19 weekend.

The weekend activities began Friday evening with the youth and their families attending the Salutations to the Virgin Mary, followed by a lenten dinner and an ice-breaker session for the youth. The competition proper was held Saturday morning, followed by a trip to the Fort Worth Zoo. Vespers and an awards banquet followed on Saturday evening, and the weekend concluded with Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning.

Lewis Dolmas represented Holy Trinity in the Senior Division and was awarded an Honorable Mention. The winners in the Junior and Senior Divisions—who will go on to represent our Metropolis at the National Oratorical Festival in June—were, respectively, Teddy Gallas from St. Basil the Great in Houston and Alex Shah from St. John the Baptist in Euless. Teddy is the grandson of Holy Trinity parishioners Liz and George Michael.

Congratulations to Lewie for representing our parish well, to the Michaels for the success of their grandson, and to all the participants and organizers of this wonderful event!
