Bookstore News for Lent, Holy Week, and Pascha

April is here and Great Lent is in full swing. Your bookstore staff have been busy adding items that help to educate, aid, and enhance. We have a number of books and practical items to help as you and your family finish the journey. We are pleased to share that we now carry red dye for your Pascha eggs as well as a number of children’s books specifically related to Holy Week and Pascha that would make excellent additions to any child’s Easter basket.

We also have Meditations for Holy Week: Dying and Rising with Christ and Meditations for Pascha written by Archimandrite Vassilios Papavassiliou. Both offer liturgical and devotional insights that help the reader enter more fully into this rich and intense period of the Christian year. Additionally, we have the highly anticipated revised and expanded edition of Father Stephen Andrew Damick’s book Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy. Father Damick offers a valuable resource for cradle and converts alike and explains how and why our Orthodox Faith is different. Ancient Faith Publishing asks, “Are you an Orthodox Christian who wonders how to explain to your Baptist grandmother, your Buddhist neighbor, or the Jehovah’s Witness at your door how your faith differs from theirs? Or are you a member of another faith who is curious what Orthodoxy is all about...this book is an invaluable reference for anyone who wants to understand the faiths of those they come in contact with—as well as their own.”

Finally, this month the featured icon is The Resurrection/Harrowing of Hades. It is 8x10 and on sale for $25.00. We at the bookstore would like to wish you and your family a blessed Lent and Pascha. Christos Anesti! Alithos Anesti! Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen!
