General Assembly passes resolution to reduce reliance on Greek Food Festival income

The following resolution, put forward by the Parish Council, was passed by the General Assembly on November 13th, 2016:

A Resolution to Reduce and Eventually Eliminate the Use of Greek Food Festival Income for the Support of Parish Operating Expenses

Whereas, The Lord has been bountiful and, through the generosity of our parishioners, Holy Trinity is today in solid financial standing; and

Whereas, The charitable and missionary programs and activities of Holy Trinity would benefit from additional funding to enable our parish to better serve the needs of our faithful and of those in need in our greater community and to spread and practice the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; and

Whereas, The ongoing activities and ministries of Holy Trinity depend upon a stable source of funding, not subject to the vagaries of the weather or the spending disposition of visiting guests; and

Whereas, The labor of our church family in support of our Greek Food Festival would be enriched by dedicating the fruits of that labor to worthy causes beyond simply funding our parish’s everyday operations; therefore—

Resolved,
That our parish will, by 2020, reduce to zero its use of Greek Food Festival income for the support of its operating expenses; and

That our parish will strive to support its operating expenses wholly through stewardship and donations; and

That any Festival income in excess of budgeted amounts will be dedicated to good works such as the support of charities and missions and, more generally, spreading the Love of Christ in the world.
