Why do we celebrate OXI Day?

The main reason is the decision by the Greek Prime Minister to say "OXI" – "NO" – to the Italian Prime Minister when asked to surrender and allow the Italians to take over Greece. This decision may have been one of the most significant acts that so positively affected the outcome of World War II, greatly assisting the war effort of the Allies against the Axis powers.
